#519 – Lake from Silk Path patisserie
So instead of a sketch at wherever I ate in the evening, here is one where I had my lunch time on my way back from a meeting. I just passed a place with cakes and sandwiches in the window while walking back to my hotel and decided to give it a try. Outside was a nice view of Hoan Kiem lake…where there was a couple sitting together enjoying the scenery.

#409 – Tree by the lake
This is the sketch I did last Sunday. Having wandered round the old quarter in Hanoi, I sat down at a quiet cafe near Hoan Kiem lake for an iced coffee and drew this.

#348 – Turtle tower (Thap Rua)
I went for a walk today around the Hoàn Kiếm Lake today – the sun is shining and everyone is out promenading on the pedestrianised streets around the lake. The most enjoyable part of doing this sketch was chatting to some random stranger who wanted to watch me! It was him that told me that people used to take a boat to this little temple to pray and that there used to be a huge turtle in the lake, that recently passed away.

#342 – Lovers in the park
Yesterday I took a walk in the park and did this ink and watercolour sketch. You wouldn’t think of Vietnam as a cold place but it really got chilly while I was drawing, so I rushed this a bit to get back to the warmth of my hotel.

Day 187 – Gulshan Lake Park
Here is one of my last sketches in Dhaka, done on my day off (Friday 7th) – I took a walk to another park. The lake was a brown smudge at the bottom of steep banks, but there were lots of lovely green trees. This was done with a Uni Pin pen, watercolour and watercolour pencils.
Day 182 – Green lake RAJUK park
Finally got out today for a nice stroll in what must be a rare and quiet oasis (Baridhara Lake Side RAJUK Park) in Dhaka – so I took the chance to do this sketch in watercolour and ink.
