This is my last belatedly posted sketch from our visit to the UK – appropriately done at the airport. Thankfully we had a relatively trouble free departure, only having to go round Heathrow airport’s nightmarish road system several times in order to find where to drop off the hire car.

I had a long, long journey home – three connecting flights and a 6 hour layover in the UK. I left on Thursday and arrived home on Saturday! I only had time to do one sketch though, as I had to catch a coach between airports in the UK and that seemed to take up all my time. This is what I saw when I finally got to Heathrow Terminal 2. I think I should have ignored the sculpture in the background (all those lines on a pole)…very difficult to convey how it looked.

Here is another sketch I did while waiting at Heathrow to meet up with my daughter on Christmas Eve. This is what I’d call a Tuk-tuk – an auto rickshaw…which I have seen a lot of in South East Asia, particularly in Bangkok. This one was set up outside Caffè Nero to sell flowers out of the back…I had intended to include those in the sketch, but as I often do, I drew too large!

Having a few hours to wait to meet up with my daughter in Heathrow Airport I naturally took the opportunity to do some sketching. This is the view out the window of terminal 2…not exactly the most inspiring sight when you arrive in the UK.
