This sketch is slightly out of order – but it was waiting in my sketchbook for some paint. I did this one when my wife and I went out for lunch on Father’s Day to our favourite restaurant, the #WabiSabiNoodleHouse in Makati. This place has lots of delicious varieties of (vegetarian) ramen noodle soup – plus the restaurant is paired with the Ikigai Kakigōri Cafe. Kakigōri is a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavoured with syrup and a sweetener…I had the chocolate overload variety!

That’s all of my life drawing for a while (some people who follow me, may feel relieved!). These are not flowers that are made from wax, I just tried out a different technique for a change and used some ancient wax crayons and wax relief with watercolour to draw this. I got these flowers (and some cinema tickets) from my daughters, for Father’s Day.

My darling daughters bought me a big box of craft beer for fathers’s day. It’s brewed by Monkey Eagle and there are lots of different types. This one is called Psychedelic Blonde. Thanks girls!

I am not bragging – this is the mug that my daughters got for me on Father’s Day. I thought it deserved a little evening sketch before bedtime.

I had a nice surprise when we got back from our Sunday hike. Firstly we ordered a slap up meal from Wabi-Sabi (a noodle house with delicious all veggie and vegan dishes), then moments after we got home this fudge cake (or maybe brownie?) was delivered along with a “World’s Best Dad” mug – a perfect end to a perfect day.

The #Kyusisketchers theme today was father. As my father is no longer with us, I thought I’d sketch something to do with how we celebrated Father’s Day here. My day started with breakfast in bed – can’t get better than that. In the afternoon I got a lovely card from my daughter in the UK and my daughter here made me a huge chocolate cake. This is the debris she left in the sink afterwards. Thank goodness she also did the washing up.
