89-2726 – DIY time

I am fixing up some conduit in our apartment and bought this cheap and simple caulk gun to glue them at the top of the wall (what I call the “no more nails” approach). My DIY (do-it-yourself) efforts usually involve me cursing a lot and blaming my tools…this bit of home improvement was no exception.

1738 – Out with the old

Over the weekend I spent a lot of my time replacing the door handles on our kitchen cupboards. The developer installed the cheapest they could no doubt and the handles have now started to corrode and tarnish. We are replacing them with nice shiny new stainless steel handles – and I thought putting the two together would make a good subject for an evening sketch. It’s difficult to get that shiny metal feel though.

1722 – More plumbing to be done

Our kitchen tap has given up – it’s corroded and is dripping all the time (despite my several feeble attempts at fixing it and finding a washer to replace). So it’s time to install this new one (which turned out to be quite a bit bigger than the old one – my fault for not measuring up before shopping)…but of course sketching comes before plumbing.

1379 – That DIY project!

This time of lockdown, isolation, stay-at-home or whatever you want to call it, should be an opportunity for me to get round to doing some of those DIY projects I have been planning (translation – projects I keep putting off). Unfortunately, so far, I have only got as far as getting the drill out…then I was distracted by the opportunity to sketch it!
