Are you stuck for things to draw (especially when it’s raining endlessly)? My choice was to draw this spot (or label) that we bought a while ago…not sure if I got the reflective metal finish that well.

Sometimes I feel a bit stuck for subjects and motivation for sketching – so my solution is often to turn to the #DrawTipTuesday advice of @KoosjeKoene, which is alway a good source of ideas and encouragement. This sketch is of some baked beans I made, plus a left-over baked potato.

99-2997 – Bread making day
The other day we brought a supply of brown flour from Wonderbake and instead of letting it get musty (we had an attack of hundreds of weevils in our last batch of brown flour), I have been using our trusty old Kenwood bread-maker (see sketch No. 1683), which have had since the early 1990’s, to use up all the flour. Then I am freezing the bread for future use.

99-2985 – Under pressure
After many years we invested in a pressure cooker. I was a bit nervous using it for the first time as for some reason I think of them as possibly exploding…naturally it was fine. My nervousness wasn’t helped by the incomprehensible instructions – here is a sample: “To raise temperature by cook after cover shown as 6) and pressure limit valve hooking the right position of exhaust pine. If any wrong position and fail to get use effect (shown as 7) and the lift indicating vane pole”. All English words but not in comprehensible sentences!

97-2938 – Measuring cups extra fine
We celebrated Christmas on two days – first on Christmas Eve with a big meal followed by opening presents to each other. Then on Christmas Day we went to a resort and had a get-together with the whole family (my sketches of the venue are coming next). This lovely set of measuring cups was given to me by my daughters partner. I drew them with my new fountain pen (a gorgeous TWSBI Eco with an extra fine nib…. a present from my wife).
