I think I have officially given up on #Inktober prompts – just too many other things to sketch. Here is one done at a Starbucks cafe in Greenhills shopping center …while I was waiting for my laptop to be repaired (the repair place tried to get me to replacing the hard drive which they said was failing…but somehow I think it was a con). A bit more scribbly and inkier than usual.

Here is my third sketch for #Inktober2019 – the prompt was bait, but as I only sketch from life I struggled to find anything to draw. In the end I found these packets of coffee with the name of a fish on them! A tenable connection at best.

After our little hike last Sunday we stopped for a coffee on the way home. This little cafe (called Park, Rest and Dine) has real character and lots of quirky decor… including what seems to be an indoor banana plant!

Monday last week I took my daughter to get new glasses – but apparently if you have contact lenses in you can’t get your eyes tested straight after taking them out…you have to wait at least 30 minutes. Didn’t know that! So it was off to the coffee shop with my daughter (who was practically blind without glasses or contact lenses) and of course a sketch.

Last Saturday after doing our weekly shopping, we had a coffee in Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in BGC High Street and sat upstairs for a change. That gave me a chance to sketch people from above, without them feeling uncomfortable having some stranger look intently at them every few seconds.

The next visit we made in the UK was to Nottingham University – their campus at Sutton Bonington. We had a little tour round the veterinary medicine course facilities…plus stopped for a cup of coffee at this cafe, which had lime green chairs! Naturally I took the opportunity to do a quick drawing.

For our first trip out in the UK we went to Aldeburgh on the coast and started with a cup of coffee at the Brudenell Hotel. They also kindly let us eat the fish and chips that we bought somewhere else. This was the view of the hotel that I had while I had coffee and chips, sitting at tables along the seafront. It looks cloudy…but luckily it didn’t rain much until we’d finished our day out.

On Saturday I took a break from doing our weekly shopping at Starbucks in the Fully Booked bookshop in Global City. As I sat down I realised I have sat (and sketched) in the exact same spot before…but that didn’t stop me drawing the same scene again…this time with a different person sitting on the balcony of course.

You may be able to tell from this that I am travelling – off to the Turks and Caicos Islands again for work. As usual I took the opportunity of the wait at the airport (NAIA Terminal 1) to sketch – just a couple sitting in the corner at Starbucks watching the planes take off and land.
