73-2363 – San Nicolas De Tolentino

Here is another sketch from our Camiguin ’Visita Igesia’. This was the third and last church we visited – this one being in Mambajao. According to one post on Flickr that I found, the church was first built in 1892. I only had a quick peak inside and then sat out front to sketch this statue, presumably of Mary…standing on a cloud? Soon after we visited, the streets were packed with floats and crowds for the Holy Week procession.

72-2353-54 – Stations of the cross

When we were on holiday in Camiguin at the beginning of April (during Holy Week) we went partway up Mt. Vulcan (a dormant volcano), where along a footpath they have the stations of the cross set up (with brightly painted concrete statues). I am not a religious person, so while my sister-in-law was praying at each station, I did a quick sketch. I only got the idea at station 4, so only started then, but they also have one additional last one representing the resurrection.
