2032 – Cafe Hermano view

I am going back a week now, to post a sketch that I started last Sunday and finished off today. On our way back from our family get together in Cavite, we stopped at a place called Cafe Hermano in Indang Town for lunch. We weren’t expecting much, but it turned out to have a lovely breezy rooftop eating area, nice coffee and pretty good food, including some for vegetarians (though something I ate didn’t agree with my tummy). This is the view we had while we ate.

2003 – Noisy cafe

Last weekend we went to a nearby mall to do some grocery shopping and afterwards had an early dinner at the Coffee Project cafe. While waiting for the food, which turned out to be not particularly good, I sketched on line with my friends @TheArtofBeingPresent and @akhtarkarbasiau – unfortunately we couldn’t really hear each other well as it was pretty noisy in the cafe and the acoustics weren’t good. These people at the next table (sitting under a plastic tree) left half-way through my sketch so I added the colour for their clothing from a photo.

1242 – Couple and child

I think I have officially given up on #Inktober prompts – just too many other things to sketch. Here is one done at a Starbucks cafe in Greenhills shopping center …while I was waiting for my laptop to be repaired (the repair place tried to get me to replacing the hard drive which they said was failing…but somehow I think it was a con). A bit more scribbly and inkier than usual.

1035 – Long table at De Lipa

Here is a quick sketch from the weekend, done while we had coffee at #CafeDeLipa. The table does have legs at each end! We chose to sit on a nice comfortable high backed couch rather than on those uncomfortable looking stools – they were great for sketching though.

944 – Christmas stools

On Wednesday we went to buy a Christmas tree in Hadleigh. Afterwards we had a coffee in a little cafe called Crabtree’s and I had a brief moment to sketch someone perching on one of the bar stools which are decorated with tinsel. Now I realise how difficult tinsel is to paint!

914 – Globe lights in cafe

Here is a quick sketch I did on Sunday while we had a coffee to psych ourselves up for our first batch of Christmas shopping. It might not be clear, but I was looking up at the ceiling over the top of a blue-grey padded bench. I did some extra work on this when I got home.

879 – Flag at the coffee shop

Even though the flag on the wall is the brightest thing in this little coffee shop (Cafe Avelino’s in Tiendesitas), I didn’t notice it until I started sketching. The mistake I made in this sketch (there is always one or more) was painting in the black till on the counter, because the guys hair is the same colour…oops. I also learnt that Tiendesitas is a Spanish word meaning a collection of little stores.
