89-2728-33 – Male model 2-15 mins

Here is the first batch of sketches I did at the #PensNBrushes life drawing session last weekend. The male model’s first poses were for 2 minutes only, then we moved on to 5 and then 15 minutes, before we had a break. I used water-soluble graphite, some water-soluble ink, watercolour and a #FaberCastell watercolour pencil. You might notice that the model was wearing a white colour and cuffs…a bit distracting for me, but this was part of the organiser’s theme of #AfterTheBall and moonlit figures.

89-2727 – Quartet Manila

Last weekend I joined the #PensNBrushes life drawing session. This time it was held at the #ModekaCreativeSpace, a contemporary art gallery – a much larger and better venue than the session before. As before we had musical interludes from #QuartetManila, so while waiting I sketched the violin player, adding to the drawing each time we had a break. I used a mix of water-soluble ink, water-soluble graphite and a #FaberCastell watercolour pencil that was lent to me by them as they were one of the sponsors of the event.

85-2659 – Musical interlude

Finally I am moving on to posting some sketches done at the @PensNBrushesArt life drawing session on Friday 19th April. I haven’t been to life drawing for years – partly because of the pandemic, and partly because of the lack of sessions here in the Philippines. The session included two musicians who played for us (in the rather tiny studio) before the poses and as an interlude while the models switched over and rested. I was itching to get on with the drawing, so instead of waiting for the models I drew the musicians to start off (so not really an interlude in this one). This sketch was done in a few minutes with ink and oil pastel.
