2063 – Wi-fi problems

We’ve had several days of frustrations with our ISP – cutting us off (at least that’s their reason for the Wi-Fi not working) when I paid a day late – of course I couldn’t pay on time because we had no internet connection. The help line was not working, there was no human to talk to and all the advice they can give is to use some crappy app that won’t connect because….no internet! You just want to scream or punch someone! This sketch is of a temporary wireless router that we eventually used for a few days.

2062 – Sketching while cooking

Sketching while letting the rice and lentils cook – whilst also chatting on line to my sketching friend @TheArtofBeingPresent was perhaps not the best idea – multi-tasking never works. In the end the sketch didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped (a black coffee maker on a black background can never be easy). Plus the rice and lentils both ended up slightly too well cooked…on the bottom of their respective pans.

2061 – Sawsawang Pinoy

One of my favourite choices for a subject is to just pick something at random from the fridge or pantry. I got this idea from @patrice_sketches and the #pantryartproject way back in 2020 and every now and then I go back to the idea when I want to just doodle without thinking too hard in the evening. This is a bottle of a popular homemade condiment in the Philippines – vinegar with chillies soaking in it. Sawsawang actually means dip – because this kind of vinegar is a popular ingredient in dipping sauces.

2060 – Ready to eat

As usual after a visit out of town, we have lots and lots of fruit, including some lovely sweet pineapples. Here is one of them, just ripened off perfectly and ready for peeling, de-seeding and of course, eating.

2059 – My shopping today

Here is some of the shopping we did on Sunday – some delicious zucchini (or courgettes depending on what part of the world you live in). After doing our shopping we went to see a movie – Dr. Strange (part 2). A bit overlong and silly for my taste, but at least I didn’t fall asleep.

Here is a sketch, done from my usual viewpoint (slumped on the couch after a long day), while I was half watching the Netflix show Ozark, which I find a bit grim. This started out as a sketch of my bag, but expanded to include a few other things as I couldn’t fit the bag in one one page!

2055 – Mud Cakes by V Cafe

After our hot and sweaty hike, last weekend, we had lunch in Quezon City – at this cafe. I made the mistake of ordering something not savoury and it turned out to be too sickly sweet for my taste. Perhaps we should have eaten the mud cakes which apparently are the owners speciality.

2054 – Vhal on Mt. Pamitinan

Here is a sketch from last weekend – done after a short but hot hike to the top of Mt. Pamitinan in Rodriguez. Getting to get to the top involved a lot of struggling up endless spiky rocks. To the right is a rock where our guide helped take some photos that looked like we were hanging over a huge drop (apparently like everyone does on this hike).
