70-2293 – Sunrise at Mt. Ulap

Over the weekend we went on a trek up Mount Ulap in Benguet near Baguio. On Saturday we got up at 3:30am, set off from Manila at 5am and drove for more than 5 hours to the start of the trek. Then we walked for 5 hours and arrived at the campsite at 5pm just below the final peak, just as it was starting to get dark (porters had carried our big rucksacks up). Then we had to set up our tents and cook dinner on a primus stove. We were so knackered by then that we went straight to bed…but got up at 5:30am the next morning to go up to the last peak and see the sunrise.
